Under the direction of David Graessle, Senior Broadcast Communications students gain an understanding of all aspects of film production. The students examine the process from pre-production to production and post-production roles.
The students start with a spreadsheet to schedule and plan the student council videos. Through this process, students learn how to create a spreadsheet and develop organization and time management skills. Spreadsheet skills are a critical foundation in preparation for future studies and the workplace.
Our Broadcast Communication students assist with the writing process by creating storylines and scripts. Students develop a point of view, tone, style, and mood for the scenarios.
Over twenty student videos are recorded using proper lighting and sound. Next is the process of turning the recording into a professional-looking iMovie with composite layers of video, text, and audio.
The students are excited to take on such a significant endeavor. Upon its completion, they will have gained experience collaborating on a project as a team, learning video production, and gaining real-world work experience.
By incorporating project-based and collaborative learning into Broadcast Communications, students benefit from developing both cognitive and social skills, which help form a positive school environment.
